December 17, 2004, Newsletter Issue #32: Should I use a Gold Coffee Filter?

Tip of the Week

SHOULD I USE A GOLD COFFEE FILTER?

I guess most of us use disposable, paper filters. But with a metal filter you can save on the trips to the store (and avoid missing the garbage bag from time to time, leaving coffee grounds on the floor at 6:00am).

If you choose to buy a permanent filter, and wash it between uses, you have a choice between stainless steel and gold. Why gold? Because it`s an inert metal - it never rusts, oxidizes or reacts with any other substance.

But then again, you`re not going to have any of those problems with stainless steel either, and it`s stronger.

At the end of the day, the only real reason for choosing gold is because it`s...gold.
