HOW MUCH CAFFEINE IN THAT COFFEE?
People get into a terrible tangle over how much caffeine there is in their cup of coffee.
So what are the factors that determine the amount of caffeine in your coffee? There are three main things to consider.
1. Arabica beans contain less caffeine than Robusta coffee beans. Which type of bean are your brewing with? If you are in North America and you drink gourmet coffee, you are almost certainly brewing with Arabica beans.
2. How strong is your coffee? In other words, if you make strong coffee by using more grounds with less water, then yes, your coffee will be stronger and there will be more caffeine in the cup, compared to a weaker brew.
3. OK, and now for the simplest a by far the most important factor in determining how much caffeine you ingest. How many cups of coffee to you drink in a day? And what is the size of that cup or mug or coffee? 8 ounces? 16 ounces? 32 ounces?
In other words, if you have concerns about the amount of caffeine you ingest, your number one consideration is to think about how much coffee you drink on a daily basis.
